FAQ-Product
Inrush current / peak:
at 12V and 24V DC= 3 W; 125 mA
bei 230V AC (50Hz) = 5VA; 22mA
No, we unfortunately do not have battery-operated solenoid valves in our product range.
No, there is no integrated protection against voltage spikes in the solenoid valve coils/plugs.
- One ground connection
- 2x connections for power supply lines
The solenoid voltage is according to insulation class: F, according to DIN EN 60085 (155 ° C)
A (direct acting) plunger-type solenoid is used as a pilot valve in servo-controlled solenoid valves. The main valve seat is opened and closed by a diaphragm. The closing function is enabled through the force of the pressure spring as well as through the medium pressure.
When the pilot bore is opened, the pressure in the fluid chamber above the membrane is relieved. The medium pressure below the membrane increases it and opens the valve.
If the pilot valve is closed, the medium pressure above the membrane builds up again through a servo bore in the membrane or through a bypass channel in the valve body. If the medium pressure above and below the membrane is the same, the relatively weak spring closes the valve. Pressure is always required to actuate the valve, since the solenoid valve is not actuated at 0 bar.
Solenoid valve closed: | Solenoid valve opens: | Solenoid valve open: | Advantages: |
- High pressure ranges possible - Low magnetic force - Large diameters - Inexpensive |
Appropriate servo-controlled solenoid valves are available here from NieRuf.
We do not have a bracket for the 2/2 way solenoid valves.
The solenoid is required to open the solenoid valve. The solenoid valve must work against the active operating pressure and the spring of the magnet armature.
The magnetic force must increase as the seat diameter and the operating pressure increase. The majority of the power applied after actuation is converted into heat and dissipated in the surrounding area.
With a solenoid valve, the direction of flow must always be observed (see the marking on the housing); solenoid valves cannot handle flow in both directions. A coaxial valve is required in such applications.
Our solenoid valves are not suitable for such use. These are only open/close valves. Control is not possible with our solenoid valves.
You need electric control valves here, for example our type ED01
No, solenoid valves that activate above 0 bar must be used with vacuum pressure. Such as direct acting or force pilot operated solenoid valves from NieRuf.
No, solenoid valves are available in normally closed (NC valve) or normally open (NO valve) versions.
With the solenoid valve versions EV06 & MV06, a change from 230V to 24V is possible without any problems. From 24V to 230V, on the other hand, only if a short-circuit ring is also installed in the valve, otherwise it can lead to a "hum" and the effect on the wear of the valve is not known to us here.
No, there is no specific installation method. Solenoid valves can be installed as required.
With the plug of the Namur valves 2 seals are supplied, 4-6 mm and 6-8 mm.
Maximum cable diameter is thus 8mm
The conversion of the solenoid valves from 230V AC to 24V DC is basically possible. Only if a short-circuit ring must be installed if a short-circuit ring is to be converted from direct current to alternating current.
The servo hole is on the outlet side of the membrane.
Yes, the lower voltage is compensated by the higher frequency.
Direct acting normally closed solenoid valves actuate the magnet armature with a sealing element directly via the solenoid (they do not need minimum or differential pressure). The valve is sealed by the existing operating pressure, or at low pressure with an additional compression spring (the spring force must be great enough to securely close the valve at an operating pressure of 0 bar). When voltage is applied to the solenoid, the magnet armature is tightened and the valve opens. In doing so, the force of the operating pressure and the closing spring must be overcome.
Soledoid valve closed: | Solenoid valve open: | Advantages: |
- No pressure differential required - Function from 0 bar - Less sensitive to contamination - Simple design - Fast switching times |
Direct acting solenoid valves from NieRuf are available here.
Our solenoid valves are not suitable for flammable gases (e.B. acetylene, ammonia, hydrogen, propane, propylene and methane).
The solenoid valve in our program has a cable that is 3 meters long. The cable can be extended by yourself if necessary.
The servo hole in the solenoid valve can handle a particle size of up to 0.3mm. If particles are larger, it is possible for the servo hole to become stopped up, causing the 2/2-way solenoid valve to stop working. In this case, we recommend installing a filter (such as a strainer) upstream of it.
The coils in our solenoid valves can be exchanged as needed. It is always possible to switch from 230V to 24V if a shading ring is installed.
No, in applications with counter pressure in the system, coaxial valves or piston-operated angle seat valves must be used. Counter pressure can cause solenoid valves to leak.
In a DC solenoid, the current intake depends only on the resistance (ohmic resistance) of the coil. The current increases relatively slowly after activation to the consistent holding current. Anchor forces in DC solenoids are less than those of AC solenoids with the same coil size (number of windings and wire diameter), meaning that they can only switch lower media pressures than AC solenoids at the same diameter. However, DC solenoids are useful as valve actuators, since a series of control devices (such as a PLC) outputs DC signals directly to the controller for use. Another application are battery-operated valves, which can use when there is no mains power supply or a very complicated mains network supply, or with specialised power supply units.
For our solenoid valves, we currently only have the option of offering a separate plug as an optical position feedback. This plug lights up as soon as there is electricity on the solenoid valve. However, a glow does not mean that the valve is also completely open. We cannot offer an electrical position feedback for our solenoid valves.
