A Hexagon nipple is a connecting element for pipe construction, which is fitted with a bilateral outer thread. As a result, the hexagon nipple can connect either pipes or fittings with an female thread. It comprises a simple straight connection, the thread and, in the middle, a hexagon. The hexagon can be screwed with a wrench. This type of connection is frequently used in heating construction, in tank systems, in water pipes or when building test benches in research and development, especially at universities. As a result of the bilateral external thread, the installation between two pipes, as a so-called adapter, is particularly easy because an installation position does not have to be considered.
Hexagon nipple made from stainless steel, brass or PVC
Depending on the area of use, the hexagon nipple is available in different variants. Before making a purchase, which medium will be flowing through it should be checked, as well as what type of pipe system the installation will be in. Because these factors affect the selection of the material and the nominal width. Hexagon nipples from NieRuf are available either in high quality stainless steel 316, brass, or a specially hardened plastic PVC-U. The stainless steel and brass variants are available in the nominal widths 1/8“ – 2“ inches The stainless steel variant can be used for the pressure range PN25 and the PVC-U variant in the connection sizes ¼“ – 2“ inches for pressure ranges up to PN10.
